Test and Trace

• Educated patients on COVID-19 and directed them to social or health services using script and resource list

Bureau of Environmental Disease and Injury Prevention

• Developed hotline call guidelines to train new staff on diverse environmental health topics, including lead exposure, mold, asbestos, and sewage management and guidance for patients with elevated blood lead levels
• Implemented undercover field surveys within NYC's South Asian community with Bureau of Environmental Health staff, testing, identifying, and removing contaminated consumer products from over 20 store shelves
• Determined sources of heavy metal exposure during patient interviews in a culturally sensitive manner
• Consolidated over 500 health surveys from the South Asian community and collected qualitative data on knowledge perception and usage of lead-contaminated products
• Conducted literature reviews on hazardous consumer products such as imported spices, toys, and medicines
• Drafted flyers and made presentations each year to the South Asian population at community events.
