  • Responsible for monitoring and maintenance of approximately 100,000 planted shrubs and over 800 specimen trees throughout our 7.8-acre gardens and landscape, including 50,000 6-inch annuals planted and changed three times a year, and approximately 5,000 potted flowers, which are replaced every three weeks.
  • Responsible for the selection, ordering, planting, and maintenance of trees, shrubs, ground covers, seasonal flowers, and interior plants throughout the resort, as well as the preparation of seasonal maintenance programs for fertilization, control of plant diseases, and insects, etc.
  • Optimized our irrigation system and implemented water conservation strategies, reducing our landscape water usage by over four million gallons in one year.
  • Completed all forecasting for foliage, greenery requirements for our new property during opening, as well as organizing logistics for load-in, receiving, and planting all material prior to opening.
  • Fluent in sourcing and vendor negotiations to secure plant material for monthly injections, openings, seasonal color changes, and displays, as well as post-COVID pandemic reopening.
  • Managed the departmental operating budget and financial controls.
  • Directly responsible for annual financial planning and forecasting, outside labor costs, and all payroll/FTEs for horticulture and floral staff.
  • Created and managed an inventory control system for all plant material, greenery, equipment, supplies, etc., for the department.
  • Provided short-term and long-term leadership and direction, including hiring, training, and staff development of approximately 50 team members, including assistant managers, supervisors, florists, and gardeners.
  • Created a training program to introduce new staff to hospitality, horticulture, and the Wynn 5-Star standards.
  • Partnered with the Marketing and Social Media team prior to and after opening for all displays throughout the property; this allowed the Boston Harbor Hotel to highlight the interior and exterior gardens, as well as all seasonal displays for local media and the public.
  • Developed, maintained, and promoted positive and professional relationships with internal staff, vendors, outside contractors, media, and the general public, helping to bring a hospitality culture to a new region.
  • A member of the Hotel Safety Committee managed the execution of team safety programs, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards, as well as compliance with all OSHA standards related to the Horticulture Department and general employee safety.
