1097 Watersports is a watercraft rental based on lake Conroe in Conroe, Texas. As a dock hand my job was to take people from the front desk after they filled out their paper work and prepare them to ride and operate water crafts, at my previous job we had jet skis, pontoon boats, kayaks and canoes. We went over safety and operation information that pertained to the water craft the customer was renting. The nature of this position had gain a-lot of personality and conversational skills with customers as a vast majority of them have never operated a water craft before and it was almost a necessity to be able to communicate and sell them on the idea of riding and operating the vessels. The job was demanding of the ability to be attentive and spontaneous, as many things are going on at the same time on the lake. ensuring customers are operating vessels properly and following the rules of the lake, catching vessels as they are returning, fueling and checking for any new damages on returning vessels, communicating with the front desk and other dock hands, and most importantly ensuring the fun of customers.
