Started my nursing career as a Volunteer Nurse at Dona Gregoria Memorial Hospital in Agoo,La Union in May 1,1981 -January 1982 then was hired as a casual Staff Nurse February 4,1982-August 1982. I was hired by Christus Santa Rosa Medical Center in San Antonio ,Texas in August of 1982.I worked at the Neurology floor and met many nurses and doctor's who trained me how to be a part of the team. I decided to try rehabilitation Nursing in 1988 and was hired by Rehabilitation Institute of San Antonio in 1988. I must have done a great job ,I was given a letter by the Neurology Physician of San Antonio group that the hospital had given them the assurance that my position and benefits will be there for 6 months if I decide to go back. Working at the Acute Rehab Hospital taught me a great deal of compassion and appreciation of life. I specialized in Head Injury and Stroke program.I received several awards for just doing the job that I love and that is Getting back my patients to living, help them gain their independence and work with their new abilities. I was voted RIOSA Nursing Prized Care Giver for the Head Injury Program for 1990-1991.I was choosen by my peers as their favorite nurse of 2006.I was clinician of the third quarter 2001and got clinician of the year 2001 and got Healthsouth National Inpatient clinician of the year of 2001 .Healthsouth in 2001 was the biggest rehabilitation inpatient and outpatient and was almost in every state .The award was for 1 inpatient and 1 outpatient clinician nationally so it was a proud moment for me and my hospital. In 2006 ,I received the clinician of the month in February.Comes 2022,I was emloyee of the second quarter and then employee of the year of EncompassHealth San Antonio and then a recipient of the Outstanding Employee Achievement Award of the Southwest Region, I was choosen out of 4200 employees for the region. I was 1 of the 8 choosen for the award for the company with 35,000 employees. I'm just lucky to do the job I love and get rewarded.
My greatest accomplishment is is helping my patient's getting their independence back , get back to living ,and learning their new abilities. Helping new nurses to get to where they need to be and just be a part of a great team.
