Dynamic and dedicated Archery Specialist and Counselor at YMCA Camp AGQ, skilled in advanced communication and expert problem solving. Successfully led engaging archery activities while managing inventory and ensuring camper safety. Developed strong relationships and enhanced teamwork, fostering a positive camp environment and memorable experiences for all participants.
I worked as a full-summer counselor at an overnight camp with sessions ranging from one to two weeks. My primary responsibility was to care for and supervise the campers, and I was assigned my own cabin with approximately 7–8 kids and 1–3 co-counselors. In addition to my counselor role, I served as the Archery Specialist. I planned and led archery activities, teaching campers how to safely handle bows and arrows in a controlled environment. This role required strong leadership skills to ensure safety and engagement. I also developed my ability to plan each activity hour effectively, keeping the campers’ attention and creating fun, memorable experiences. Another key aspect of my job was managing and organizing all archery-related inventory. With all these responsibilities in mind, I remained prepared and focused, always thinking ahead to ensure everything ran smoothly for the benefit of the campers.
In the summer of 2024, I worked as an overnight camp counselor for five weeks. My primary responsibilities included teaching, guiding, and caring for children aged 9 to 14. I participated in three different camp sessions, which meant I was assigned to three separate cabins, each housing 7–8 campers and 2–3 co-counselors. My daily routine revolved around ensuring the health and safety of the campers, helping them follow the schedule, and providing appropriate guidance—especially when they were reluctant to participate in planned activities. A key part of the role involved managing social conflicts among both campers and fellow counselors. Over the course of the five weeks, I refined my existing skills and learned how to mindfully care for multiple individuals in a shared living environment, both during the day and overnight. These experiences helped me become more outgoing and organized—not just in my actions, but in my thoughts and communication as well.
