Crafts. Individual monthly meeting. Outdoor activities. Indoor activities.

To assist the mentally & physically Handicapped persons in staying healthy in a variety of areas, I find simple ways to do this. Some are able to bike outside, whereas some can only walk on a smooth surface for a short distance. I assist in each area and make it enjoyable instead of being a chore. Those who cannot walk outside, I find creative ways to assist them in indoor walking/exercise.

Monthly meetings for the Individuals are accomplished considering the mental/cognitive ability of these persons. I communicate simply and encourage them to participate verbally. With their input and my ideas, we create the next months activity calender, plan meals, plan birthdays, and discuss ways to deal with conflict, fire safety, taking care of their health, etc.

Gardening. Cycling. Photography. Reading. Outdoors. Cultural activities (Amish).

Gardening is relaxing for me. Sunflowers regrow yearly. Morning Glories vine up the sunflowers. I love to add new flowers that will come-up on their own every year.

Cycling is also freeing from stressful life. My E-Bike is exhilarating to ride.

Photography is never boring. It's fun to challenge myself at finding new ways to use my camera. I've entered some contests and enjoyed seeing how my pictures place.

Reading material about other persons lives is inspiring. It helps me keep perspective.

The outdoors is mentally refreshing in all seasons. In Summer laying in my hammock is soothing. In Fall wracking leaves as well as walking in leaves is stimulating. In Winter shoveling snow keeps me physically fit. In Spring I love to watch my plants begins to grow.

Staying active in supporting my Amish friends keeps me fresh in appreciation for my modern ways. It's stimulating to feel like I can "go back in time". It's a positive feeling to be helpful to the single Amish women who don't get as much help from their community.
