General Laborer

ABC-Associated Brigham Contractors Inc.
Brigham City, UT
06.2012 - 02.2014

While Working for ABC I had various Job Titles and performed many different duties. I worked for ABC as a Contractor for a Company called Nucor Steel at there Bar Mill Facility where they produced various Steel Products.

My first job there was to assist the Environmental Team in the Operation of and Maintaining the emissions control building known as the "Bag-house". It was my duty everyday to sweep the building very thoroughly and clean any hazardous Steel dust off the floor or in any area where it had built up.

I learned the Importance of upkeep on all the mechanical stuff such as keeping bearings greased and moving parts clean of excess debris and staying on top of things to keep the building running in tip top shape.

I would Load Railcars everyday with an automated device on the bottom of a 300 ton silo. I would move the cars back and fourth on the tracks with a front-end loader so I quickly became familiar and proficient with the operation and capabilities of the machine.

The team and I were working around the hazardous Dust known as Ko61 so we were required to wear hazmat suits and respirators so I was well aware of the importance and safety on being compliant with Osha's environmental standards to keep us and everyone around us safe.

After I worked in the Baghouse for many months I became a Welder/fabricator and learned how to weld with an arc welder and operate various saws and drill presses.

Our main focus was to repair damaged guards, railings, stairways and other types of safety hazards in the facility.
