- Inspects player equipment before each game to ensure compliance with safety standards, and monitors gameplay for potentially dangerous situations.
- Controls the pace of the game, manages player conduct, and resolves disputes between players, coaches, and officials.
- Identifies and assesses penalties for infractions, tracks penalty times, and ensures players serve their penalties appropriately.
