Summary

I am a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate from Angelo State University, equipped with five years of academic experience in utilizing industry-standard tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and ANSYS. While my professional experience is limited, my academic projects have instilled in me a strong analytical mindset and problem-solving capabilities. I am enthusiastic about applying these skills in a practical setting and am confident in my ability to adapt and excel in a dynamic engineering environment. I possess strong communication and teamwork skills, which I believe are crucial for effective collaboration in diverse teams. I am keen to leverage my technical knowledge and collaborative spirit to contribute to innovative engineering solutions. Committed to professional growth, I am eager to enhance my understanding of manufacturing processes and systems engineering, aiming to optimize production efficiency and contribute to the success of my future employer.

Work History

  • Although I have not yet secured formal experience in the engineering field, my academic journey at Angelo State University involved numerous projects where I designed, built, and conducted tests and experiments, simulating real-world engineering tasks.
  • I balanced my rigorous academic schedule with part-time to full-time employment in various roles throughout my college years. I worked at Lowe's, gaining skills in customer service and team collaboration, and in the oilfield, where I learned the value of hard work and resilience under pressure.
  • Contributed to the university's facilities management by creating CAD drawings of school buildings, which honed my technical drafting skills and deepened my understanding of architectural and engineering standards. This blend of academic projects and diverse work experiences has equipped me with robust skills and a strong work ethic, preparing me to contribute to the engineering field effectively.

Projects

For my capstone, I was part of a nine-member   team tasked with designing and building a BAJA car for a national competition   in California, embodying the principles of mechanical engineering. As the   Chassis team leader, I spearheaded the design, simulation, and manufacturing   processes crucial for ensuring the vehicle was competition-ready and robust.   My responsibilities included conducting detailed simulations to assess the   structural integrity of our design and leading the hands-on manufacturing   efforts, which involved TIG welding, tube bending, and notching.

This project not only honed our technical   skills but also emphasized the importance of teamwork, problem-solving under   pressure, and innovative thinking. It provided a rigorous challenge that   tested our abilities to manage complex engineering tasks efficiently, making   it a significant highlight of our educational journey and a proud   demonstration of our readiness to enter the engineering field.
