I started working for Ron setting chokers on down felled logs to be shipped to landing to be processed and loaded on log trucks to be shipped to various mills after a while I started to pull rigging which means spotting skycar with an internal drum with drip line used to be pulled to chokers set on logs, then blew whistles to yarder to signify that logs were ready to be pulled to landing. After a few more years I got an opportunity to run a TMY50 yarder.
As a Yarder Engineer I shipped rigging (sky car and chokers) to rigging crew stopped the rigging when a single whistle was heard. When three whistles were heard I went ahead on the rigging and brought turn of logs to landing area where they were processed and loaded onto log trucks to be transported to various mills. Other responsibilities as yarder engineer include greasing bearings on the sky car and yarder and putting taki lube on moving gears on both the sky car and yarder to make sure moving gears didn’t wear out prematurely. Also I changed oil and other fluids regularly to assure proper performance
