Accomplishments

  • Started a Star and Worst cases of the Week project for drivers and other staff. This encouraged better adherence to codes of conduct and competitive excellent performances amongst staff. Stars were rewarded with extra points in monthly assessments.
  • Introduced the Marshal Driver Scheme in 2009 for all Light Fleet drivers in Shell Port Harcourt. The scheme was aimed at mentoring disciplined and humanitarian drivers who will propagate the ethics of their profession and learning beyond their immediate employers.
  • Also using the performance assessment records over the months and years, I published the grading of all the 450 drivers in Shell East using years of experience, awards, and number of violations as key factors. Salaries were then paid to drivers according to their grades and the impact was great in terms of motivation and safe development.
  • The relationship with drivers and mates from Shell host communities improved greatly over the years. Excellent team spirit was created across the Drivers and Staff. Apart from periodic meetings with their Political/Youth leaders, MOUs in key aspects of community/company relationships were developed and endorsed.
  • Introduced the Drivers Personal Vehicle Log Book as an effort towards Vehicle integrity and standards compliance which was a process to dedicate operations vehicles to drivers.
