
Wildlife Summer Camp Program, NC State University, 2023 (Supervised by Drs. Christopher DePerno, Lara Pacifici, Jeffrey Buckel, Gregory Cope):
Passive wildlife sampling techniques including camera traps, scent stations, and coverboard sampling; active wildlife sampling techniques using dip nets, opportunistic and times searches; PIT tagging of snakes and turtles; seine netting to analyze aquatic populations; fish marking via caudal fin clipping and visible implant elastomer tags; public and private land management for game and non-game species; mesocarnivore trapping including catch poles, species specific traps, and foothold traps; wildlife trapping and removal around airports using pole traps and bal-chatri traps; wildlife trapping techniques including canon nets, rocket nets, air cannon nets; NC songbird identification; songbird mist netting; mist net lane set-up and maintenance; bird banding; NC plant identification; use of fire as a habitat management tool
