Field Experience

  • Restoration Planning: As part of my Ecological Restoration class I was involved in a semester long collaborative project with Denver Mountain Parks. Our class focused on collecting and analyzing data on bison, invasive plant species, and soil erosion. I helped to formulate an official restoration plan submitted to Daniel’s Park and gained hands on experience in data collection and plant identification.
  • Field Work: I have volunteered with Denver Mountain Parks as part of their Elk Monitoring Study at Evergreen Lake. I observed and collected data on elk behavior and interactions and analyzed environmental factors that may be impacting the elk population. I have also worked with Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado removing invasive plant species in the foothills of the Rockies.
  • Data Collection: As part of my senior thesis, I independently designed a research study analyzing the population density of black-tailed prairie dogs in Daniel’s Park. I collaborated with Denver Mountain Parks and collected data on prairie dog sightings, tunnels, and the areas around their colonies.
