Dance is the way I communicate best, and when I move I hope my artistic communication welcomes relief from reality or sparks inspiration to wonder at its complexity.
At Kentucky Ballet theatre I received solid training in Cuban/Russian style ballet under the direction of Rafaela and Norbe Risco. Here I was also trained in classical jazz, modern, character, and salsa. I performed many roles as a student ranging from a jellyfish in The Little Mermaid to a demon in Dracula. At age 13 I was accepted into their pre-professional program and was able to perform several roles with the professional company.
While a student, I attended three of their summer intensives, one of which I was able to train under one of the four jewels of Cuban Ballet, Aurora Bosch.
At Alexander Academy of Performing Arts I was trained in level 4 and 5 of the American Ballet Theatre curriculum for ballet. I have performed many roles with the school ranging from the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker to Lysander in A Midsummer Night's Dream. I continue to train through the ABT curriculum under the direction of Absalon Figueroa as well as in contemporary under the direction of Hallie Hunt.
After attending Adaptations Dance Theatre's three day contemporary intensive, the company offered me a spot in their collegiate level contemporary program, Pivot. Pivot is a week long choreographic process aimed in developing the physicality and artistry of the dancer, culminating in a new work premiered in theatre for our local community. This program pushed my boundaries as a young dancer and succeeded in developing both my physicality and artistry, leaving me hungry for more.
