Many of my volunteer and paid positions have been working with children. I enjoy working with children, and their parents, because I like people. I enjoy helping people get what they need, such as the homeless clients I have worked with in my volunteer work with Winter Nights. I am a kind and considerate babysitter with great recommendations earned by providing individualized care. Led exciting and safe activities while setting examples for appropriate social behavior. Talked with children about personal interests to build relationships and trust.
I have had numerous babysitting jobs in the area, including a group babysitting job with my Girl Scout troop where we earned money for our troop.
I have had several pet-sitting jobs for reptiles and cats, which also involved watering plants, bringing in packages and mail, and putting garbage cans out on the appropriate day. These jobs have been as few as two days to as long as a month. Each family entrusted me with keys to their home.
I was a camp counselor at the Girl Scout camp in Lafayette for one week each summer. I watched over children as they swam, helped them with crafts, taught them camp songs, did archery with them, hiked, and taught them how to be safe while still having fun. I especially enjoyed working with the youngest children.
Served as primary contact for students and parents who called or came to the office. Input attendance as submitted by teachers. Wrote slips for students who were late so they could get into their classes. Filed paperwork. Walked emotional support dogs.
Made meals for and served homeless families enrolled in the Winter Nights program. Assisted the children with their homework, and played games with them to keep them occupied while their parents looked for work, worked on their education goals, etc.
