Cardiac Rehabilitation

• Facilitate and support patients during outpatient cardiac rehabilitation, contributing to the recovery from CABG, valve surgeries, PCI, MI, and heart failure.

Heart Failure Clinic Nurse

• Conducting thorough patient assessments, monitoring vital signs, and coordinating comprehensive support for heart failure patients across treatment phases, including those with LVADs.
• Educate on heart failure management, emphasizing GDMT (guideline-directed medical therapy).
• Collaborate on clinical trials, administer tailored cardiac infusions.
• Assist in screening for advanced technologies like Cardiomems and Barostim for precise patient care interventions.
• Monitor and manage warfarin therapy for LVAD patients, ensuring optimal anticoagulation.
• Utilize advanced technologies (Cardiomems, Barostim) for patient care.

Nuclear Medicine

• Conduct comprehensive cardiac stress testing, utilizing chemical stress tests (e.g., Lexiscan and Dobutamine), nuclear medicine treadmill stress tests, and routine treadmill stress tests.
• Collaborate closely with cardiologists to analyze test results, ensuring accurate interpretation and timely communication of findings.
• Work collaboratively to develop and implement patient care plans based on stress test outcomes, contributing to optimal patient management and care.

Inpatient Cardiac Educator

• Deliver thorough pre-op and post-op education to cardiac surgery patients, managing expectations, explaining postoperative care, and monitoring recovery progress. Educate patients with cardiovascular diseases, focusing on improving outcomes and meeting core measure standards.

UMC Infusion Clinic Nurse

• Manage and provide specialized care for patients undergoing outpatient IV infusion therapy, encompassing antibiotics, biotherapeutics (e.g., Eculizumab, Infliximab, Rituximab), chemotherapeutics ( e.g., Cyclophosphamide) and renal transplant infusions (e.g., Belatecept).
• Collaborate closely with physicians to assess therapy effectiveness, incorporating lab results and patient response into the ongoing care plan.
• Ensure coordination and communication with the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes and tailor care strategies based on therapeutic and lab result analysis.

• Manage and monitor critically ill patients on ventilators, tracheostomies, chest tubes, surgical drains, enteral feeding, and medication drips.
• Collaborate on patient care plans with case managers, physical therapists, occupational therapists, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
• Work in a designated Intermediate Care (IMC) Covid-19 unit.
• Serve as a clinical resource and orient new clinical staff.
• Participate in hospital subcommittees (e.g., restraint-reduction) to improve patient care.
• Fulfill preceptor responsibilities for nursing institutions affiliated with the hospital.

• Provide newborn care in the L&D room, assist in C-sections, and facilitate the transition of newborns during their first few hours of life.
• Manage patients and provide care for newborn infants, conducting ongoing assessments until their discharge.
• Assess and promote maternal-infant bonding.
• Educate patients and their families on newborn nursery nursing care.

• Manage and monitor critically ill patients requiring ventilatory support, tracheostomies, arterial lines, chest tubes, and surgical drains.
• Assist with various procedures, including bedside bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion and removal, bedside intubation, percutaneous drain placements, TEE, cardioversion, PICC line or central line placements, and code responses.
• Administer and monitor medications, sedation drips, vasoactive drips, anti-coagulation drips, and insulin drips.
• Manage and maintain specialized equipment used on patients, including interpreting and recording electronic data from cardiac monitors, respirators, ventilators, and arterial lines.
• Ensure proper placement and functioning of catheters, leads, and tubing
• Initiate corrective action when monitoring life support equipment indicated adverse symptomatology.
• Provide patient education plans as prescribed by physicians.
• Educate patients and their families on managing their conditions, including post-treatment home care needs, diet/nutrition/exercise programs, self-administration of medication, and rehabilitation.
• Facilitate discharge referrals to ensure continuity of care.

Orthopaedic/Plastics Unit

• Managed care for Orthopedic, Plastic, and ENT patients ranging from stable to acutely ill in a 38-bed Telemetry Unit at a Level I Trauma Hospital.
• Admitted patients from PACU and facilitated patient transfers from ICU. Monitored post-operative vital signs, set up PCA pumps, monitored epidural pumps, managed fluids, and performed nursing duties delegated through physician orders or outlined in the patient's plan of care. Oriented patients to the floor and initiated or reviewed their care plan.
• Managed care for patients requiring various Orthopedic equipment, including Cryocuffs, walkers, overhead frames, CPM (Continuous Passive Motion) devices, PCD (Patient-Controlled Devices), and tractions.
• Managed care for patients undergoing flap procedures (breast reconstruction with flap surgery), skin and muscle grafts, central lines, IVAD (Implanted Vascular Access Device), medication drips, ostomies, tracheostomies and surgical wound vacuums.
• Improved patient status by utilizing various resources and coordinating patient care with MD, RN, PT Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Respiratory Therapist, Case Managers, Pharmacists, and Chaplains.
• Served as a clinical resource to new staff, float nurses, members of the healthcare team, and precepted nursing students affiliated with the hospital.

Neuro-Trauma Unit

• Managed care for step-down ICU patients, as well as provided pre-operative and post-operative care to patients in, neurosurgery, general surgery, urology, and emergency trauma services within a 35-bed telemetry unit at a Level I Trauma Hospital.
• Safely managed patient care, which included tasks such as performing blood transfusions, setting up PCA pumps, providing ostomy care, caring for nephrostomy tubes, administering intravenous therapy, managing central lines, tending to surgical/trauma wounds, handling GI tubes, chest tubes, tracheostomies, medication drips, surgical drains, and wound vacuums.
