Accepted the unique opportunity to open a comprehensive high school which would open for students in grades 9 and 10 in August of 2022. Activities during the planning year (2021-2022) included:

• Hiring an administrative and leadership staff
• Hiring certificated staff
• Hiring classified staff
• Identifying the needs of the school community
• Planning an instructional program to fit the needs of students in the 21st century
• Assessing the requirements of the facility including furniture, technology, curriculum, equipment, and sport/ extra curricular equipment and uniforms

Following the planning year, we welcomed students to the opening year of Del Oro. We collaborated with staff and stakeholders to:

• Performed classroom evaluations to assess teacher strategies and effectiveness.
• Fostered a positive learning environment by promoting open communication among staff, students, and parents.
• Managed budgets and resources efficiently to ensure optimal allocation of funds for school programs and initiatives.
• Monitored student behavior and enforced discipline policies.
• Prepared for the addition of another grade level in successive years.
• Led the school through the initial WASC accreditation.
• Hired additional staff to meet the needs of new students.
• Worked with district leadership to gain their support for new educational structures to be implemented at Del Oro.
