During my time in Basic training which extended from March 17th of 2025- January 22nd of 2026, I had the opportunity to qualify twice with the M-17 9mm pistol. my first qualification with my first company I trained with I learned rather quickly how to become efficient with the weapon. I scored a 45/50 that first time. when I got to my second company for training I had the opportunity to shoot and qualify again. Knowing that I was proficient with the weapon already gave me an upper hand on everyone else in the company and out of the 167 privates in my company, I was 1/4 to shoot 50/50 in that last qualification. Each one of use at the end of the training cycle was rewarded an Army Achievement medal for our efforts for this qualification.
