Virtual Experience
Taught virtual Social Studies during Spring 2020. This was a sudden pivot for all of us. I was the Social Studies facilitator/department leader so I collaborated closely with my team in taking our plans for in person lessons and transitioning them into effective virtual lessons for our classes.
During the 2020-2021 school year I was asked to take over and grow the AVID program at JMS. My classes were all hybrid but one which was virtual. I had the challenge of creating effective virtual lessons from a curriculum I had never taught before.
During the 2021-2022 year I had one virtual AVID class and the rest were in person.
Throughout my time teaching hybrid and virtual classes I grew to enjoy the challenge of figuring out creative ways of building lessons that were effective at hitting learning targets as well as researching best practices and finding new programs and technology to enhance my virtual lessons.
