Summary

To Whom It May Concern:

Vince Lombardi wrote that the fundamentals of success in business and in life are Commitment, Discipline, Excellence, Mental Toughness, Habits, Faith, Passion, Results and Truth.

My entire career has been with FedEx Express, 30 years to be exact and I have practiced everyone of these fundamentals and have applied them to my management skills. I have been very successful as a manager and a HCMP Advisor.

Now is the time to further my experience, gain more knowledge and take my leadership skills to the next level.

I am writing to express my sincere interest in becoming part of something new and being part of the Aldi family.

I am confident my qualifications meet and exceed the requirements for this level of leadership.

During my 30 years with FedEx I have acquired many skills that would prove to be beneficial for this position. I have gained invaluable insight and experience that I think would be worthy of your time.

I am excited to look for a change and hope you find my combined experiences to be what you are looking for.

Regards,

Lorraine Gayle Worley

Work History

  • As a HCMP Advisor, ( Human Capital Management Program), I provides support and guidance to employee's who are absent on medical or family leave, or need an accommodation. I improve workforce readiness and foster employee engagement though effectively managing the employee absence programs. I partner with the employees and managers to ensure that the medical and family leave process is consistent and as seamless as possible.
  • Information pertaining to Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), initiating medical and family leaves of absence, Temporary Return to Work, requesting Accommodation, working with Worker's Comp for injury leaves and Hartford for Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability and Total Disability.
  • I am personally assigned 7 States along with the Chicago Ramp and carry approximately 270 to 300 cases.
  • Communication is key as well as documenting phone calls, conversations and email.
  • I work cases daily, making sure the employee is aware of all important dates, what they need to remain on leave or what they need to return to work.
  • Compassion and Empathy also help in this role.

AGFS FedEx Ramp Operations Manager

FedEx Express
Kansas City, MO
02.2015 - 01.2022
  • Duties and Responsibility Include:
  • I trained with the QDM, (Quality Driven Management) and implemented several skills and ideas after completing the training. Used to better sorts, on road and overall budget and staffing goals.
  • I was responsible for staffing the am and pm operations, working with recruitment, keeping appropriate staffing plans and training new hires with our policies and procedures. I worked with peers and upper management on what was needed for each workgroup and had weekly meetings to go over staffing with my Senior, my peers and engineering.
  • Implementing and developing action plans for on-road and sort operations. Results to hit budget and goals monthly had to be reported to a District level. Involved in weekly staff meetings to go over budgets and staffing, as well as, any other issues about the employees.
  • I oversaw training for the location and other satellite stations, running training reports, ensuring all manager's were aware of deadlines, sending reminders weekly, so the Company would hit their goals for every month. This was also a compliance and audit item in which I was in charge of. I also monitored licenses, DOT physicals and Sida badges to be completed before expiring for the workgroups and for vendors.
  • In charge of recruiting and hiring new members. I also looked for talent and encouraged and coached team members to advance in their careers. Was successful in mentoring several employees who are now in managing roles with FedEx.
  • I was in charge of all scheduling, monitoring overtime and distributing overtime according to the audit process. I staffed and posted the weekly schedule that I had to balance with the budget for how many people were working, how many hours and how many hours in each bucket, such as handling or driving, stretch and flex. Every bucket was allotted so much time. I did all vacation bidding and scheduling for the year for the entire roll-up which was approximately 190 people plus the staffs time off. I entered timecards daily and audited each one for approximately 35 direct reports. I managed their time off as well as others and made sure their time was entered on time and correct so they would not have any payroll issues. I handled payroll issues as well as W2 issues. I also scheduled time for driver's to get their license, DOT physicals and Ramp personnel to renew their Sida badges.
  • Communicated daily with warehouse and office personnel as well as drivers expectations and goals for the day. Held daily meetings with each group at the beginning of their shift and held individual meetings with those who failed to perform. I drove and implemented goals of the Company to achieve enhanced performance and meeting deadlines and goals for the station.
  • I communicated Company goal or policy changes and made sure everyone was aware and understood the changes. I opened up the floor for questions and concerns.
  • Termination was also a part of my job. I would administered discipline and if terminated, would maintain their pay and make sure the employee received what was due in a timely manner. Collect all badges and Company property, then escort them off FedEx property.
  • If needed, I would seek the advice of my leaders and HR on issues that I might need help. I would use my network to help resolve issues.
  • I made myself aware of the Companies strategies and communicated daily what was needed for us to be successful as a team.
  • Attended weekly meetings and strived to hit my goals for my team for every meeting.
  • I was able to get employee's buy in and keep them engaged and made them feel as a valued part of the team. I created a sense of teamwork, that things operated smoothly as a team and not as just one person.
  • I consistently advised my Senior Manager of offers and pay that were in our market place so we could stay a great working field and attract only the best that could be offered.
  • I organized a team to clean up after every sort, from trash on the ground to cleaning shipping labels off of cans to foreign debris on the Airport Ramp.
  • I was in charge of our Environmental and worked to maintain all our records and processes were compliant with government regulations. I served on the District audit team doing random audits over stations and ramps throughout the District, covering time keeping, required signage, I'9s, Sida clearance, Ramp and Aircraft regulations, driver's records and hiring paperwork.
  • I was over the Customer Service Agents and made sure the front counters were fully stocked and that our surplus was stocked to better our customers. I also made frequent calls if I heard of any drop boxes being low and requested for a driver to be sent by to stock and clean it. I also made sure our agents were friendly and approachable when dealing with customers.
  • I was instrumental in providing a safe work environment and talked about safety daily in our workgroup meetings. I would also engage different members to go over our safety rules. I was the manager in charge of our safety team and held monthly meeting with that team to go over any injuries, accidents to improve out safety rating as a whole.
  • I worked daily with Best Practices developed for our Company and communicated any changes that might be pertinent to our employees or leadership.
  • I was in charge of monitoring cost of the front counter and all electronic devices for team members. I developed and kept a file to be audited by the District. I had to work with a budget before ordering any electronic devices due to cost and monthly budgets.
  • Although a manager, I've never been afraid to get my hands dirty and pitch in to help meet the goals at hand or if we were short employees. I would also deliver to make sure the FedEx experience was exceptional when volume was heavy or we were short staffed due to call offs.
  • Physical demands for my entire career have been to lift 75 pounds and maneuver 150 with assistance and work at a pace moving so many boxes per minute. As well as launching drivers and Aircraft on time.
  • At FedEx, I have been privileged to work in many areas, wear many different hats and learn many ways to run an operation as well as manager people and understand their strengths and weaknesses. To make them feel cared about and that they matter. This is probably my greatest attribute, keeping the team happy and engaged.
