  • Created a ten-week-long music and activities program that utilized piano and violin performances to connect nursing home residents.

  • Practiced and performed piano pieces on which activities were based.

Public Health Policy Researcher (Oxford University Press Published)

The Gerontological Society of America

  • First author of a presentation for the GSA Annual Scientific Meeting on the importance of community-based interventions in addressing cognitive decline among older adults.
  • First author of a complementary abstract published in Innovation in Aging, which is published by Oxford University Press on behalf of GSA.
  • Developed both abstract and presentation under the mentorship of post-doctoral researchers at the University of Hawaii and the University of Washington.
  • Highlighted how interaction- and music-based social programs can mitigate loneliness and improve cognitive health outcomes.
  • Proposed tangible, scalable, and effective policy recommendations to integrate social connection and community-based programs into the lives of older adults.


Independent Researcher

Under the Mentorship of Post-doctoral Researchers and PhD Candidates

  • Currently authoring a 14-page applied-health-economics- and public-health-policy-oriented research paper exploring potential return on investments on Medicare expenditures caused by falls and hospitalizations through social-interaction-based interventions.
  • Taught myself statistical analysis, regression analysis (negative binomial and logistic regression), and other concepts like Cohen's d, standard deviation pooled, and return on investment modeling using Python and Stata.
  • Investigating how science-driven and community-based approaches to aging can inform public policy for aging populations.
  • Synthesizing insights from neuroscience, social science, and data analysis to inform evidence-based, equitable policy design.
  • Two-part study (regression models and return on investments) and research paper edited and finalized with the guidance of post-doctoral researchers and PhD candidates.
