My career began as a chemist and evolved into a 30-year tenure in education, where I led complex organizational changes and fostered equitable outcomes through strategic planning and collaborative partnerships.

A pivotal moment in my life occurred in 2018 while serving as an assistant principal. A student was shot after school, and an officer suffered a heart attack at the scene. This incident profoundly impacted me and ignited a passion for nursing. However, it was a personal encounter—being held at gunpoint during a robbery—that became the final wake-up call. It made me realize the critical need for immediate, compassionate care and the importance of helping others who have faced similar traumatic experiences.

As a certified nurse assistant and home healthcare provider, I have honed my skills in patient care, electronic medical records, and collaborative teamwork within clinical settings. My experience in STEM education and public health has equipped me with strong interpersonal and leadership skills, enabling effective communication and advocacy for patient safety and well-being.

Motivated by a deep commitment to service and community impact, I am now pursuing a master's in Nursing. My aspiration is to become a Certified Nurse Specialist, working collaboratively with healthcare teams to provide optimal care, particularly in Med-Surg, ICU, and Wound Care. With the unwavering support of my family and our shared vision, I am eager to integrate my extensive experience with advanced nursing practice to enhance patient outcomes and contribute positively to the healthcare field.
