Black Belt in Isshinryu Karate

Accomplishments

  • Studied Isshinryu karate for over 15 years. Competed in kumite and kata tournaments. Achieved multiple trophies and medals. In my studies of Isshinryu karate, I was a member of the FIST PROGRAM (future instructor special training). Upon testing for and achieving my status of Shodan (black belt) I became an instructor at my school, East Montgomery Karate Academy. From there I branched out to study other forms of karate such as Tae Kwan Do, Shotokan, and Kung Fu. From the motto of my school, 'respect and courtesy' to goal setting, motivation and discipline, martial arts has significantly shaped the person I am today.
  • After obtaining my personal training certification through AFAA, I obtained a position of personal trainer at LA Fitness. From there I worked my way up to head trainer and finally master trainer. I became certified in first aid and safety and CPR. After gaining much experience at LA Fitness, I decided to start my own personal training business. I set up 'FIT FOR LIFE' at a gym in Huntington Valley, PA. Along the way I obtained certifications in massage therapy, nutrition and silver sneaker instructor. I maintained this business for multiple years until my own injuries started to impede my ability to continue training clients.
  • I volunteered at Forgotten Cats in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. Working closely with homeless cats to clean their cages and rooms to feeding, watering and providing love and companionship to such helpless animals really had a lasting effect on me.
