Underground Field Inspector Contractor Oversight

  • Responsible for all routines associated with the replacement of paving removed for construction work.
  • Handle field inspection and coordination work for the installation of customer services.
  • Inspect job sites to determine field conditions, prepare orders, obtain permits, and check contractor crews to ensure work meets Company Standards.
  • Handle correspondence, clerical work, and complaints regarding the above, and check contractors' bills for accuracy.
  • Form records and plans, complete through field inspection, and determine points of interference between public property and company facilities.

  • Plan work, maintain records, and dispatch crews for PSC programs such as leak detection surveys, main inspections, etc.

  • Use pressure recorders and other instruments necessary to perform this work.
  • Check work orders for the availability of material, and when work is completed, check for the completeness and accuracy of papers and sketches.
  • Prepare, design, and estimate gas facilities as directed.
  • Analyze load demand, required equipment, estimates, sketches, permit application, and resolution of conflicts.
  • Maintain office maps, and work as an inside field inspector, utilizing aerial technology to perform customer contact reviews.

Utility Mechanic - Gas Field Operations

  • Locate gas mains, gas services, and their appurtenances, electric substructures, and other substructures on both public and private property in advance of, and during, construction operations with the use of underground pipe locators, box locators, or similar equipment.
  • Identify all located substructures with paint, stakes, locating devices, and other means.
  • Break pavement and excavate to expose our gas mains, gas services, electric duct, conduit, or other substructures.
  • Take measurements using hand tools, break pavement, excavate, backfill, and temporarily pave all excavation.
  • Work with higher-classified personnel in the performance of their duties.
  • Read and interpret sketches, maps, CPR cards, historicals, and system operating procedures.

  • Repair valve and curb cock leaks by lubricating with a hyper-gun or hand grease gun.
  • Discontinue service to our customers in emergency situations and discontinue and restore service during planned shutdowns (including relighting appliances).
  • Operate all types of equipment assigned to the mechanic classification.
  • Operate power equipment i.e.., generators, compressors, chain saws, hyper-guns, concrete saws.
  • Adjust, oil, grease, and clean all tools and equipment, and make minor adjustments, minor repairs, and replacements of those parts expected to be worn or broken in everyday usage, i.e., digging teeth, or shear pin
