Designed RAPTR as next-generation payload test, checkout platform, integrating advanced automated software techniques, new hardware. Developed software, hardware for Command & Data Handling (C&DH), Analog and Discretes (A&D) modules of RAPTR, simulating corresponding ISS flight subsystems. Crafted prototype Graphical User Interface (GUI) in LabVIEW, maintained Qt-based production GUI for deployed systems. Integrated ISS Flight code, hardware into RAPTR for high fidelity simulations. Boeing secured contract to build RAPTRs for ISS after product development under Internal Research & Development (IRAD) funds. Applied Agile software development method with Scrum meetings, peer reviews. Formulated RAPTR requirements based on superset of existing ones. Deployed software subjected to Software Configuration Management (SCM), unit tested, peer reviewed, then integration tested. At NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, Payload Support Ground Software: Served as lead software engineer, Cyber Security focal for sustaining engineering on Ground Test Software Systems, inclusive of Payload Rack Checkout Unit (PRCU), Suitcase Test Environment for Payloads (STEP), Suitcase Simulator (ScS), Common Suitcase Simulator (CScS). Ground test systems simulate various ISS subsystems to verify payload experiments before launch deployment. Systems included Sun workstations with LabVIEW GUI control software, VME card cage with 680x0 based single board computers, network switches. Led software design team for CScS, simulating flight Common Rack Software (CRS) for payload developers. CRS is control software in EXPRESS Rack Interface Controllers in ISS. CScS software enabled payload developers to test TCP/IP payloads on their own Windows-based computer. Built CScS requirements based on subset of existing ones with DOORs aid. Maintained, designed, coded, developed existing software in ground test systems, created new sustaining software releases. Supervised software releases for PRCU, fielded releases to various NASA sites nationwide. Deployed software maintained under Software Configuration Management (SCM), unit tested, peer reviewed, then integration tested. Designed, coded, and tested the Visual Display Generator (VDG) function of the Northeast Corridor Improvement Project (NECIP) using a four CPU TANDEM TNS II mini-computer and TAL programming language. This fault-tolerant software codebase was designed to persist without error even in the event of CPU failure. The NECIP project was a train traffic control system featuring a control room equipped with custom-designed graphics workstations and a RAMTEK video controller. This software updated displays by sending RAMTEK-specific commands to the controller. Train locations were visualized on a map across nine projection screens in the control room. Operators could control track and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) power grid via touch screens on their graphics displays. Assisted in designing menus and displays for NECIP project. As graphics team leader, supervised VDG implementation.
