Assistant Engineer in Charge of Maintenance
Assist the Engineer in Charge of Maintenance with supervising the operation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical equipment building/grounds systems to ensure the facilities and utilities operate efficiently and safely.
Supervise a team of Maintenance personnel and trades such as masonry, carpentry, electrical, kitchen maintenance, plumbing, refrigeration, welding and HVAC.
Provide leadership and direction to staff in order to complete tasks efficiently.
Assigns work orders and instructs the Crew Supervisor Building Maintenance and additional Maintenance staff in prioritizing work orders to resolve the facility repair needs in an efficient time frame.
Prepare work schedules, maintenance reports, order parts, equipment and maintain accurate records of completed work.
Working with vendors reviewing drawings on upgrades and renovations for capital improvement projects.
Enforce workplace safety procedures, regulations, codes and company policies.
Assisting in diagnosing equipment failures/concerns and recommending a solution for improved reliability.
Coordinating with vendors/contractors for facility improvements dealing with Secure perimeter lighting, Receiving gate control boxes and perimeter/interior security fencing
Schedule the daily, weekly and monthly preventative
maintenance {pm} on equipment with minimal downtime.
Meet with vendors concerning design changes and modifications to help improve controlling costs and efficiencies.
Maintain records of projects including cost estimates, labor hours and material costs.
Inspection of facilities, buildings, central plant and structures. Once there is a significant condition/concern or repairs are needed then I arrange for the necessary work to be done either by our staff or by outside contractor/vendor.
Coordinated with outside vendors to arrange repairs, facilitating proper upkeep of facilities.

Crew Supervisor Mason Plaster for the Maintenance Department
Supervised/hands on with all the construction and repair of block walls, concrete ceilings, floors, foundations, sidewalks, steps, interior/exterior brick work, tile floors, drains, manholes and other masonry plastering and stonework.
Performed or assisted in/with semi-skilled and skilled trades such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, refrigeration, HVAC, welding, or other relevant trades.
Maintained detailed records, ordered, stored, issued equipment, material, tools and supplies that would be needed for issues/concerns I came across to work on in the various maintenance trades.
In charge of the maintenance, fabrication and repairs needed for all truck and entrance gates mechanical and electrical.
Supervised and worked with the electricians to get the secure perimeter lighting back online and in service dealing with 277/480v.
Supervised electricians, plumbers and welder in maintaining the running of everything outside of the prison facility. Fixing/replacing of (277/480v) light fixtures, outlets, switches, electrical disconnects, running electric for additional fixtures, outlets, tilt grills and south bend ovens.
Fabricated and welded several gates that included building a new gate to modifications on an already installed gate that was damaged throughout the prison facility.
Worked/meet with Lighting vendors reviewing blueprints regarding improving the Mast lighting, perimeter lighting and light fixtures all throughout the prison facility.
Repair/replacement of valves and pipes throughout Central Plant High temp or low temp water/steam lines.
Knowledge and knowhow of all asphalt repairs throughout the Facility which incorporated using a walk behind saw, air compressor jackhammer, backhoe, skid steer, plate tamper.
In charge/supervised and gave direction with the running of Snow Removal for approximately 7 years.
Maintaining the maintenance/repair on all equipment. Keeping logs of safety, staff, hours worked, fuel, material, equipment. Utilizing a backhoe, skid steer, dump truck and F250 pickup
Recording and ordering of all replacement parts/service on all items used in snow removal.
Assisted carpentry department with essential roof repairs, sheetrock, floor tile, cell windows.
Assisted lock shop with essential repairs, troubleshooting and fabrication of cell locks, food ports, gate locks and doors.
Assisted HVAC department with troubleshooting and accessing issues with
damper motors, controllers, thermostats, air handlers and ventilation equipment.

Crew Supervisor Mason Plaster for DEPTCOR and under direct supervision of Rich Lore
Supervised/instructed and gave direction within the field of masonry to approximately 15 incarcerated persons for 15 years.
Instructed and enforced the use of safety on equipment/tools utilized for the trade as per cement mixers, mortar mixers, jackhammers and additional tools utilized to complete the work tasks.
Supervised and gave direction in the mixing, pouring and finishings of any and all masonry.
In charge of all the ordering of material, tools, equipment for any job.
Record keeping of payroll for the Masonry Department.
Supervised and directed crews at other Prison facilities, State Parks and Municipalities for work that needed to be done at their location.
Utilized leadership and organizational skills to perform and complete work as it should.
Combined effort of the Carpentry Department within Deptcor to complete the building of numerous Pole barns, sheds, visitor's restrooms, etc. including blueprint reading, foundation work, block, plastering, framework, windows, doors, sheathing, roofing.
Scheduling with vendors on related dropoff and pickup of essential equipment needed to perform jobs at the different site locations.
Knowledge of blueprint reading.
Performed the necessary repairs or replacement of block, concrete, etc. throughout the prison facility due to Maintenance not having a masonry department or staff to do so.
Team collaboration and problem solving to maintain productivity and team morale.
Supervised and directed the Snow Removal team for Maintenance for approximately 5 years while working for DEPTCOR. Supervised and gave direction on what was needed to complete the task at hand.
Recorded all staff, OT, equipment, material and fuel utilized to perform snow removal.
Repaired/fabricated truck gates with Educational Welder when needed throughout the facility.
