Gerald Meharry

Whitehouse ,Texas

Summary

My name is Gerald Meharry. I've been a Registered Respiratory Therapist at UT Health since 2005 and am now the Team Lead of the Bronchoscopy Lab.

In my current role I work side by side with the doctors to preform various interventional bronchoscopies and respiratory procedures. I coordinate cases and manage scheduling with the anesthesia team, radiology as well as the physicians. As a team we strive to stay current on new developments in the field and attend in-service education both departmental and hospital wide. I educate and assist the doctors in use of the equipment used in procedures and work closely with equipment reps and nurses to provide the best quality of care for our patients.

Prior to bronch lab I provided respiratory care as the Team Leader throughout the hospital and still occasionally pick up extra shifts on the floor. I've worked in several departments including Emergency Department, ICU and NICU. I assist with procedures such as chest tube placement and intubation as well as manage invasive and noninvasive ventilator care, aerosolized medications, oxygen delivery and pulmonary function tests.

I believe in maintaining professionalism, trustworthiness, punctual attendance and good interdisciplinary teamwork in whatever role I take on.
