Over the years, the many skills and abilities I have learned has built a strong foundation for my work ethic and has opened the opportunity for me to grow in both my personal and professional career. From running a gourmet kitchen as a chef with Grasch Foods, to repairing homes at Weather Pro, to even setting up a printing press at Eclipse Screen Printing; maintaining these jobs has helped me become a more organized and disciplined person. It has also taught me important time management techniques to stay ahead of the work that is provided. Quality should never be jeopardized by time constraints, therefore by delegating the proper time to each task, I can consistently give my best effort and focus.
I also grew up working for my Step Father as a carpenter, repairing homes and even building a few from scratch. This helped me build a strong sense of pride and value in the work that I accomplish, teaching me to be accountable and responsible for my work and actions. It made me more attentive to the details that can go unnoticed and I use that trait on a daily basis to set myself apart. To be the one to take initiative even if it was not asked of me, to push through difficult challenges and meet problems with adequate solutions.
That is what sets my work ethic apart and those traits do not just apply to one job or task, but to all aspects of my life. Which reflects on my decision to go back to school for Wildlife Conservation and Biology. To meet new challenges head on and to always take pride in putting in 110% effort into the task at hand. Going to school, on top of working fulltime has helped motivate me to refine the skills I posses, while also teaching me new skills to improve on, allowing me to challenge myself and push for the best version of myself.
As a printer at Eclipse, I am responsible for many tasks such as setting up and taking down the press for each job, taking inventory, and checking for any discrepancies on the PO or garments. I am also responsible for the logistics and shipment of each order, making sure each item is accounted for and delivered to the correct location. This job has helped me work on multitasking while also being more attentive to the organization of individual tasks and how they apply to the output of the whole shop. This job opportunity has allowed me to improve on my work ethic as I have honed in on my ability to multitask while not compromising my attention to detail and organization. Taking quality work and applying it in an efficient manner.
As a property manager I was responsible for all the maintenance work within the 20 units I managed, this work included carpentry and plumbing repairs, vacant unit turnaround, and painting. I also handled the legal and apartment leasing process, including background checks and the lease signing. My weekly tasks also included the necessary yard work and during cold months; the snow removal as well. This job is where time management became very important to me as I was self supervised and had to delegate my own tasks throughout the week. During this time, I became exceptional at staying ahead of the game to keep my tenants needs and happiness as the top priority.
At JB Custom Drywall, I worked as a seasonal carpenter and laborer. I was primarily tasked with "finishing" carpentry work which included installing base and trim around doors, windows, and flooring. As well as window, door, and drywall installation on residential homes and office buildings. This job taught me the means to be observant and look for the small details within a project, allowing me to add quality to my work that I felt was standard for our customers.
While seasonally employed at WeatherPro Exteriors, I was part of a team that worked on exterior remodeling. My position required adequate mental and physical toughness as our team worked rain or shine to exceed customer expectations and leave their home better than we found it. My daily tasks included, but were not limited to, repairing & sheathing exterior walls, siding, rebuild of chimneys and occasional roofing work.
JDog Junk removal is a company that is owned and operated by military veterans and their families. We worked together as a team to help families during some of their most stressful times in life, moving. Whether it was taking a few items to the junkyard, moving a whole family across the state, or the demolition of a rundown property due to neglect or even a disastrous situation such as a fire or flood. We always did the heavy lifting and what we could to make the stressful situation of moving a bit more manageable for our customers.
During my employment with Grasch Foods I caught on to the fast paced conditions of working in a gourmet kitchen. With that being said, I learned a lot of what it was like to lead a team and the responsibilities that follow a management position. Working as a Chef and manager I was in charge of creating recipes for our customer base, as well as testing and trying cooking techniques to bring the best quality food to our customers. I also managed employee schedules and the daily routines of my fellow coworkers, delegating tasks to keep our kitchen running clean and efficiently.
