I have been in sales for several years working with farmers. Not only to sell them whole goods, but also to sell them on myself and earn their respect.
I was born and raised in Oakley, Ks. I have been involved with the Oakley Chamber, Oakley Ambassador's, Oakley Economic Development, City of Oakley Mayor, Jaycees, and Church & School board. I have been a volunteer fireman for over 32 years now and I am the local Fireman Relief President.
The Hoxie store service department was the least efficient shop in all their locations. They said they had lost several customers in the last few years and wanted me to try and regain some customers and increase the efficiency.
When I started it was in the middle of the busy season and there was only enough work to keep 2 of the 6 mechanics busy. So they were very used to sitting around all day doing nothing.
As time progressed the available shop work increased. So I started to push the mechanics to get work done in order to make the farmer happy. A couple of the mechanics did not like to have to work more then 4 hours in a 9 hour day and they complained to the owners. I was told that a couple of mechanics were going to quit if management didn't fire me. So rather then lose 2 mechanics, BTI left me go because I was trying to get them to produce more labor and keep the farmer happy.
