In January 3rd. 1983 as a distributor for Reiter Dairy Inc. we had two small milk trucks delivering Reiter Dairy milk products. I was on one truck and my dad, with another employee on the 2nd truck.
In 1986 we purchased the branch location of Reiter Dairy in Jackson. Ohio that included seven
milk routes. We purchased an ice cream truck and introduced Reiter ice cream to our accounts.
In 1995 we became a distributor for Velvet Ice Cream Inc. & Nestle's Ice Cream Novelties. I made a very profitable move and put combination medium temp and frozen temp truck bodies on all our trucks. We could deliver milk and Ice cream on the same truck, resulting in a tremendous decrease in delivery costs across the board. I was responsible for placing 107 Nestle freezers in my marketplace. Our ice cream program skyrocketed !!!!!!
In 2010 we saw our business taking a drastic hit from the big corporate dairies lowering their wholesale costs on milk and dairy products. Also all the Walmarts, Dollar Generals, Family Dollar Stores was putting our mom & pop accounts out of business. My company was a victim of market trend and I couldn't stop it. It was the beginning of the end so in April 31, 2015 R & J Dairy Foods Inc. sold it's remaining ice cream accounts to Velvet Ice Cream. Also sold all milk accounts to Reiter Dairy. It was a great run in over 32 years starting with two small milk trucks with 0 revenue to 15 tractor trailers running 7 days a week and 8 - 26 ft. straight trucks delivering 6 days a week. Before market trend hit our best year was 6.5 million in total sales in milk and ice cream. Like they say. Nothing lasts forever !!!!!!
I made crafts, went to yard sales & store close out sales/auctions to build my product
inventory to sell. I went to local flea markets, festivals. Advertised & sold on Marketplace
& E-bay. This was a part-time when I was also working remotely from my home office as a
sales associate. When I wasn't working from my home office I worked full-time selling crafts & other items I had purchased.
I was a work at home remote phone salesman selling 4 sports fundamental drill/practice
programs to city recreation departments nationwide. ( base ball, football, soccer and basketball ) Gained experience on a crm dialing system but sales company wide were not great because city recreational departments already had their own drill/practice programs.
I worked from home qualifying leads and scheduling appointments for the client companies
sales department. I gained valuable experience using a crm data system and all the technology
I learned to work remotely from my home office. LK was slowly going out of business cutting everyone's hours in half to 10/per week. I started looking for another job.
I was responsible for setting up in-store promotions and merchandising the orders shipped to each store I was assigned to each day. Primarily my territory consisted of Walmart Supermarkets,
Kroger Supermarkets and Independent Supermarkets in a six county area. Working for Kellogg's
was a very rewarding opportunity. I met "Tony the Tiger", the masgot for Kellogg's Co. at a Walmart Supermarket at a store celebration. " HE'S GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
