• Develops recommendations on safety and security policies, procedures and standards for physical security design criteria, physical security systems implementation, maintenance, repair and life cycle management.

• Conducts scheduled and unscheduled safety and security inspections of Agency facilities and equipment or other public/work site facilities and locations within assigned region to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local codes, regulations and guidelines.
• Coordinates with local first responders and staff from state and federal agencies such as the Washington State Department of Transportation and the Department of Homeland Security.

• Conducts the safety and security reviews of design packages and construction submittals; performs code analysis of municipal, state, and national codes for applicability to Agency project(s); and performs evaluations and prepares recommendations for code compliance of specific design and construction elements.
• Performs safety reviews of directives, rules and procedures for all modes; and to review train orders, track access, and status of train and facilities operations, as required. Reviews incident statistics and hazard reports to generate remedial recommendations and drafts summaries of any findings for further review and trend analysis.

• Oversee all new construction designs to ensure they are completed on time and within budget and scope.

• Manage all low voltage systems including CCTV cameras, intrusion alarms, access control, fire alarms, fire sprinklers and wireless data transmission systems.
