Application of Six Sigma on a body shop riveting operation.


  • Six Sigma’s DMAIC was used to determine the root cause for defects occurring in a riveting operation.
  • Fishbone, Pareto analysis and statistical sampling were performed.
  • Performed normality, process stability and capability tests from the output data to rectify defects.
  • Successfully found the root cause.
  • FMEA was updated for future reference.


Management of product & process design on a lemon squeezer.


  • A custom lemon squeezer was designed to understand the product development process.
  • A problem statement, mission statement and target market were identified.
  • Customer needs were identified using KANO model, KJ affinity.
  • Product specifications were done, benchmarking and QFD was generated.
  • Concept generation, selection and product specifications were finalized.
  • Product design was done using CATIA and DFMEA was created.
  • A DFA(Design for Assembly) was done to minimize costs.
