Collaborates with physicians to quickly assess patients and deliver appropriate treatment while managing rapidly changing conditions.
Educates patients, families, and caregivers on diagnosis and prognosis, treatment plans, disease process/management and lifestyle options.
Serves as charge RN on a 40 bed unit with responsibilities including: delegation, safety checks, communicating with various departments, performing service recovery, reporting occurrences, and participating in interdisciplinary meetings.
Provides patients and caregivers of proper wound management, discharge plan objectives, safe medication use and disease management.
Administers chemotherapy while monitoring for patient reactions and carefully documents findings.
Trained to perform 1:1 patient desensitization's for personalized care and treatment of a patient with history of drug related chemotherapy reaction.
Trains/educates staff nurses throughout their orientation to ensure quality care and safe practice measures.
Contributes substantially to successful department JCAHO/Magnet accreditation by consistently operating to highest standards of care.
Quality Control Audit Committee Member: Conduct rounds on unit to ensure adherence to infection control policies and standard procedures are being met.
