Screenwriting courses emphasized carrying an idea from its initial stages(figuring out what you want to say and why, crafting a differentiated concept, thesis statement, and logline), through the crafting of the script (feature, short, and pilot forms, utilizing the 8 -sequence narrative structure, understanding the hero's journey and the core fundamentals of effective storytelling), and effectively completing your script (understanding your market, defining your goals, classifying your script effectively, polishing off your work to make it market-ready).
