Perioperative Nurse in a Critical Access Hospital. Treating the whole patient from admission (Pre-op), Surgery, recovery (PACU), and Discharge or Transfer. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Providing preoperative instructions to patients about topics such as diet and activity restrictions, medication instructions, and postoperative healing instructions
• Obtaining medical histories on new patients, updating existing records, and filing reports with other healthcare providers as needed
• Performing nursing duties such as changing bandages, administering intravenous fluids, and taking vital signs, assessing pain, site of incision, temperature and respiration
• Assisting physicians during surgeries by performing routine tasks such as preparing operating rooms, sterilizing equipment, and setting up surgical instruments
