• Researched Tobacco Use Disorder (TUD) in sexual and gender minority populations, and tobacco cessation programs targeting this population. I wrote a graduate level, peer-reviewed paper utilizing scholarly article databases (MEDLINE, CINAHL)to ensure an extensive review of all current literature on the subject. For my research, I was selected as one of 15 students in Millersville University's nursing graduate programs to be a podium speaker and present my research to the university.
• Researched and wrote a concept analysis on Patient Activation during diabetes education. Focus was on which methods of diabetes education were most effective at improving patient outcomes, helping patients become more knowledgeable and confident in the managment of their chronic condition, and reducing the long term complications of diabetes mellitus.
