The IndustryWeek 100 Best Managed Companies issue included a list of the 100 IndustryWeek 1000 firms that IW believed to be the best managed in the world. Winning companies trumpeted the honor in annual reports, on their websites, in company newsletters and in global newswire releases. Project duties:
• Coordinated the planning of all editorial for the section.
• Oversaw the entire research and judging process leading to the selection of the 100 firms. This year-round process included the hiring and managing of interns, coordinating the assembly of a panel of judges that included experts from all over the world, constructing a detailed questionnaire and helping to analyze the financial performance of the eligible companies.
• Led planning for the fourth annual IndustryWeek Executive Summit, an event honoring the 100 winners. The conference was held in Tucson, Ariz., in early 2000. Guided the development of the content for the conference sessions. Also assisted with the planning of similar events in 1998 and 1999.
• Assisted with the planning of IndustryWeek’s 100 Best-Managed Companies on the web.
• In a speech, President Bill Clinton cited the Best-Managed Companies program.
