Hello! My name is Grace, I am currently a Lead Teacher at Bi-Cap HeadStart Prenatal-Five. I currently teach a classroom of 16 children ages 3-5. I have been teaching at HeadStart since 2018, and started as a Teachers Aide, I immediately fell in love with teaching and educating families. So I began connecting with professional development coordinators and obtained my CDA! I was so excited and motivated by the course work that I worked my way to becoming Lead Teacher of a pre-school classroom here at HeadStart. Through working with these children and families I have become highly passionate about advocating for communities facing generational trauma, poverty and other hurdle putting so many families at-risk for low outcomes. Aside from Family advocacy, I have extensive working with and providing services for many wonderful children with varying levels of needs ranging from children who use non-verbal communication, to children who struggle with Reactive Attachment and Rage Disorders. I strive to ensure children and families with high-needs feel included, respected, and that their educational and basic needs are being met with integrity and fidelity. I work along side Special Ed professionals and parents to create and amend IEPS, coordinate Mental Health observations and parent consults, and ensure children with high-needs are being supported and protected.
My passion is in advocacy, I feel I am called to nurture, support and educate those who need it most. I love my current work as a Teacher, but I am seeking something that leans more towards education coordination, family advocacy, or even an in-home nanny specializing in Early-Ed. I also am willing to potentially travel, if salary allows.
I am very excited to make new career connections!
-Humbly.
