From K-12 I have been apart of the Dual Immersion program, which is an opportunity for students to learn both English and Spanish throughout their schooling. Being involved in this program is very tiring, relentless, and challenging but it is also rewarding, belonging, and successful. Being apart of this program has led me to graduate as a fluent Spanish speaker, receiving a Biliteracy and Multiliteracy seal in Spanish.
Throughout High School I was an active member in all things sports related. I was apart of the varsity basketball team for all 4 years and the varsity volleyball team for 3 years. Being apart of both those sports has taught me how to work with others, time management, competitiveness, and trust. I am a huge competitor and loved to stay engaged in sports. Which is why I was also apart of the Sports Medicine Career and Technical Education program at my school. In the sports medicine program I was apart of we worked hands on with athletes through taping, ice, water, stretching, treatment, and on field injuries. I completed the CTE pathway with 810 hours outside of school throughout my 10th,11th, and 1 semester of my 12th grade year, by working at practices, games, and other sporting events. The sports medicine program is very rigorous and requires a lot of time and energy, especially being a student athlete. But that program made me fall in love with athletic training and laid the foundation for what I want to do in life. I always told myself that if I never played at a collegiate or professional level then I would take care and support the athlete that did by keeping them healthy.
