Seeking to provide peer mentorship and advance Boise State University in its mission
I am responsible for day-to-day operations at the Recreation Center along with supervision over the entire facility. I help other employees with problems encountered and put them in the right direction to provide positive experiences for all patrons that come through our doors. This also means building relationships with employees in all departments across the Recreation Center to help build a positive work atmosphere that can be used to create a positive environment for our patrons. As supervisor, I also dealing with conflict management and help to uphold Campus Rec policies.
I clean and prepare the pool deck area for each day including doing tasks as cleaning tables and chairs, straightening out the chairs, chairs, tables, and umbrellas, folding towels, and stocking the towel bin. Throughout the shift I would guard the pool and enforce rules when needed and preform a save if needed. While not on the stand going around the pool and keeping it clean by picking up trash and dirty towels, emptying the dirty towel bin, and cleaning up toys. As well throughout the shift checking the pool chemicals and making sure they are within the correct ranges. I would create the schedules throughout the season and communicate with other employees when their shifts were or if someone needed help finding a cover.
I made ice cream to be used for the next day or whenever it was ready and needed. I maintained productivity by cleaning up the store or doing dishes when it was slow or when it needed to be done. After every shift I would have to count the register and the safe to make sure they had the correct amounts. I would work the register accurately and quickly to make the customers more satisfied. Customer service is a big part of the job. When customers enter the store greeting them and making them feel welcome through the whole process is number one. Also promoting new flavors and knowledge of the menu to help customers with their choices.
