Summary
Over the past year I have done clinicals through my nursing program at Hope College. I have been able to follow registered nurses, observe, and do skills on mother and baby floors at Butterworth, including labor and delivery and postpartum. I also have been on various med-surg floors at Holland Hospital for my older adult rotation. I will be switching to Pine Rest for my psych/mental health rotation in March. Before starting clinicals, I had a class where we learned skills in our lab at Hope College, for roughly 4 months I learned and practiced bedside etiquette and many nursing skills to help prepare for our practicums. Throughout clinicals thus far, I have become more comfortable with administering patient care and supporting medical staff in diverse healthcare environments. I have grown in my communication to help improve team collaboration and patient satisfaction. I gained knowledge of clinical procedures and patient management.
