I began my career at NNS almost 7 years ago as an X18 structural welder. Soon after i was transferred to the X11 fitter department on new construction carriers. I worked the panel line and became very accustomed to reading visual work documents on DDMS as well as paper drawings. After a year i was moved to VCS submarines and continued to learn more and more about building units and submarine components using all forms of drawings and work documents. I spent three years in the VCS program and became makeup for my crew. Presently I work on Columbia class submarines using 3D visual work documents on a daily basis on nuclear and non nuclear jobs. While working these jobs i found my favorite part was reading the drawing and and using different programs for the new work instructions getting away from paper drawings. I am now trying to take the next step in my career to help improve and maintain accurate visual work documents.
