LAS CRUCES AIRSOFT FIELD RULES
Revised June 20, 2022
Please check back often, as the rules are subject to change
Players shall sign the release form
Note: Where conflicts between this ruleset and the American Mil Sim (AMS) ruleset are found, the more stringent rule applies Our goal is to prepare players for the challenges of AMS games like Copperhead, and we are phasing out rules not aligning with AMS
Participants agree to play at risk, holding no player legally liable for injuries or damages, and will play by the following rules:
SAFETY
1 - Impact-rated wrap around eye protection is required Look for ANSI “Z-871” stamped on frames or lenses Steel mesh goggles are NOT sufficient, nor are standard prescription glasses Eye protection must stay on at all times, except in the parking or reloading areas outside the gaming area Avoid head shots whenever possible, but if it happens accept the hit and walk it off We're all friends here For players under age 16, adult guardians must remain on site for emergencies and full-face protection is required
1a - A call of "Blind Man" is called and repeated by all players whenever someone is missing eye protection, is injured, or a non-player wanders onto the field The game pauses, players freeze in place, and magazines get ejected from guns The game resumes at the command "Game On", which is called by the player closest to the non-playing person in question once that person is safely squared away or out of range of the game area
2 - Teeth protection is recommended Impacts can chip teeth during gameplay This is a really good idea, is required by some fields and in the UK, but is at the player's discretion Boots are also recommended to prevent injury (thorns, sprains, etc) Knee pads can help keep thorn and glass out of your knees Snake gaiters are recommended for games in grassy or remote areas
3 - Players are encouraged to not shoot unaware opponents within 10 feet Bang/Surrender rules are preferred in this case, but not mandatory Players are not required to take the bang-kill, but should be prepared to get lit up if you turn and try to fight
GUN RULES
4 - Guns will comply with the following and players must submit to chronographing their guns when required by game admins:
4a - All guns, except light machine guns (LMGs) firing with muzzle energy less than 1 joule, are limited to semi-auto fire
4b - Automatic Electric Guns (AEGs) are limited to 400 fps with 20g plastic bbs Rifles shooting between 403 and 450 fps with a 20g bb are considered a designated marksman rifle (DMR) and have a minimum engagement distance (MED) of 60 feet (~ 25 paces)
4c - HPA (high pressure air) rifles will be chronoed with the player's bb of choice, and are limited to 15 Joules (rifle), or 18 Joules (DMR)
4d - Bolt action rifles have a limit of 550 fps with a 20g bb and an MED of 100 feet (~ 40 paces) A sidearm is recommended
Muzzle Energy Examples:
Joules = (fps^2)*grams*0000046
< 330fps & 20g = 10J (full auto okay)
< 440fps & 20g = 18J (60-foot MED)
< 260fps & 32g = 10J (full auto okay)
< 348fps & 32g = 18J (60-foot MED)
< 435fps & 32g = 28J (100-ft MED)
Shooting in excess of 28J not permitted
GAMEPLAY
5 - Call your hits Airsoft works on the honor system If you are hit anywhere on your body, shout "Hit!" then raise your hand and stand up Pull out your red dead rag Dead men do not talk or reload Gun hits do not count Ricochets do not count Friendly fire does count Knife kills count, players must freeze and not make a sound or say hit, and only light contact is required and permitted Grenades have a 20-foot kill radius and are blocked by hard cover like closet doors, etc
Note: DO NOT call out other players' hits We play in windy conditions and at long range Your gun is likely not as accurate as you think it is, and bbs spread out at range Light bb strikes are tough to feel/hear, especially with the brush we play in Notify a game admin if a player is observed repeatedly ignoring their hits, or other issues arise They may be ejected
MEDICS
6 - After being hit, players will wait in place for 2 minutes (bleed-out) Revives are performed by a 30 second hold from a medic; the count resets if the medic pauses to shoot Bandages wrapped around the arm are also acceptable for a revive Medics, do not use your buddy as a meat-shield Players bandaged twice cannot be revived in some gameplay and must return to the spawn point
7 - After a downed player bleeds out, they can resume gameplay immediately after reaching the spawn point Players in range or in sight of an enemy spawn point must move back out of range Spawn-camping is not allowed
8 - A hit player may be “dragged” by a buddy to cover The dragging buddy must place a hand on the hit player and move at a walking pace
GENERAL
9 - Bring your own protection, water, sunscreen, snacks, ammo, gas, gear, and batteries Let someone know ahead of time if you need to borrow something If this is someone's first time, let us all know about it so the game play can be explained
10 – We often have houses near the field, so stay at least a shot's range away from them We don't need complaints or law enforcement attention If law enforcement does show up, place your guns in the trunk of your vehicle and keep your hands visible while an admin speaks with the officers
11 - Leave the field in as good or better condition as you found it It is important we keep the peace with locals so we can continue using the field without interference
