Each year of High School around Christmas my school has a fundraiser called Ella Stuff a Stocking. The goal of the program is to collect gifts and necessities for children who might not get a Christmas otherwise. In school each CREW class gets one child in need and a list of things they like, want, and need. As a crew we work together to gather everything and more on the list. Outside of school I bought items off of the list like toys, clothes, and soap. In pervious years I have also got giftcards to help the parent of the child out too.
I graduated middle school with excelling grades and on a excelled path. In high school I took all honors classes that I could until Junior and senior year where I started taking dual enrollment classes. I have four college credits already and when my senior year is complete I will have eight college credits total. I will go into college ahead already so I will only need to take one year of pre-requisites before I can dive into my career program.
I have played volleyball since 6th grade but in summer of 2024 I tried out for a big club team and got a place on the 17's team. I played for the club, Columbia Stars. We started practice in November and started traveling for tournaments in december. My club did many things to help gain a sense of community throughout all of the teams and held things like christmas party events and fundraisers. We had a fundraiser to support cancer and bring awareness as well as raise money for research. We practiced twice a week for two hours each and then traveled every other weekend for a two-three day tournament and would play for half of a day each day and watch and support our other teams for the other half of the day. It helped me gain a sense of community, build relationships and become more disciplined for success. My club focused on having good relationships with all of the coaches and players more than any other club. Relationships are the first step towards team success. I would help other girls with skills I was more advanced at and I would be in the gym every day we didn't have practice working out to get my endurance up. I took private lessons with a former collegiate volleyball player and coach and we had current volleyball players from schools like Clemson come to our practice and give us advice. I think this helped shape me to be a hard working driven person and gave me skills to be a multitasker and good communication and social skills.
