During my tenure in the United States Air Force, I have had the privilege of acquiring diverse skills while working towards becoming proficient in the roles of a Bioenvironmental Engineer and Industrial Hygienist. This multifaceted job demands mastery of math, science, and medical skills and the development of administrative and human resource competencies. As a bioenvironmental engineer, it is often said that we are the "jacks of all trades," I have fully embraced this challenging role with enthusiasm and dedication.

• Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene: Acquired knowledge about occupational health hazards and industrial hygiene principles to assess and reduce risks in Air Force workplaces. This includes exposure to noise, chemicals, radiation, and other occupational hazards.
• Environmental Monitoring and Sampling: Received hours of training in environmental monitoring techniques, including air sampling, water sampling, and soil sampling, to assess environmental quality and identify potential hazards.
• Hazardous Material Management: Learned different procedures for handling, storing, and disposing of hazardous materials and wastes to be in compliance with environmental regulations.
• Emergency Response and Disaster Preparedness: Learned how to respond to environmental emergencies in HAZMAT gear, such as chemical spills, natural disasters, and industrial accidents, to minimize impacts on personnel and the environment.
• Radiation Safety: Studying radiation safety principles in tech school and also practiced procedures to monitor and control radiation exposure in Air Force operations. Some sources involved nuclear materials, ionizing radiation sources, and radiation-emitting devices.
• Industrial Hygiene Assessments: Conducting industrial hygiene assessments to evaluate workplace conditions, identify potential health hazards, and recommend control measures to protect personnel.
• Environmental Compliance: Understanding environmental regulations and Air Force policies related to environmental protection and compliance and advising that Air Force operations follow these requirements.
• Health Risk Assessments: Conducting health risk assessments to evaluate potential health risks in workplaces, such as exposure to hazardous chemicals or pollutants and also ergonomics.
• Training and Education: Providing training and education to Air Force personnel on environmental health and safety topics, including proper use of personal protective equipment and environmental conservation practices.
• Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyzing environmental monitoring data and preparing reports to communicate findings and recommendations to Air Force leadership and regulatory agencies such as Guam EPA.
