  • Certified Professional Controller- certified on all control positions in the facility which includes:
  • - Approach Control. Certified in 5 sectors serving the greater New England area. handled the safe and expeditious flow of traffic to at least 18 satellite airports including three class delta airspace towers. Dealt with class charlie airspace a well handling departures and feeding to arrival for T.F. Green bound aircraft. responsibilities included ensuring separation and issuing control instructions, accepting and initiating radar handoffs, scanning radar display and correlating with flight progress strip information.
  • - Arrival Control. Sequenced and separated arrivals into Greens Class Charlie airspace Which included aircraft varying from air carriers to C-172's.
  • - Radar data. Operated interphones, processed and forwarded flight plan information.

  • Naval Air station Jacksonville is an airport which also consists of an outlying airfield Whitehouse. NAS Jacksonville produces over 80,000 annual flight operations consisting of P3/P8 and helicopters along with transient and customs aircraft. The outlying field consists of controlled E2/C2 operations and multiple helicopter landing zones. During this time I continued to sharpen my skills as an air traffic controller and furthered my proficiency of using air traffic control phraseology and instructions while keeping traffic properly separated on runways and throughout the airspace. Qualified the following positions:
  • - Whitehouse Facility Watch Supervisor. Fully qualified Air Traffic Control Specialist. Coordinated activities and supervise personnel engaged in operation of air and ground traffic. Interprets Federal Aviation Agency directives and places them into effect. Adapts procedures to deal with problems or situations not covered by established procedures or policies. Directs radio searches for overdue or lost aircraft. Inspects facilities equipment for frequency adjustments and reviews records and reports for clarity and completeness. Organizes and conducts on-the-job training.
  • - Tower Supervisor. Responsible to the Facility watch supervisor for the safe and expeditious flow of traffic in the tower facility through ensuring that qualified controllers manned positions and proper training was occurring on those positions; oversaw up to 8 controllers simultaneously working in the tower. Duties: Coordinated control of aircraft and vehicles. Briefed tower watch team on weather conditions, traffic, equipment, field conditions, and special evolutions. Assigned air traffic controllers to positions based on qualifications. Assigned trainees to qualified controllers for training and supervision as directed. Routes plans for operating under instrument flight rules to control center and for operating under visual flight rules to station in vicinity of destination airport, using radio, teletype, radiotelephone, telephone, or interphone. Maintains files of plans for operating under visual flight rules until completion of flight, aircraft to control center for rescue or local emergency services. Monitors such radio aids to navigation as range stations, fan markers, and voice communication facilities.
