Impact Player for Champions For Literacy
I am an Impact Player for the Champions for Literacy non-profit.
I use my platform as a high school athlete to promote literacy efforts and to fundraise for local literacy non-profits.
I have supported this cause, raising over 1000 dollars after asking for donations at a wrestling clinic
I led Elementary and Middle School students over the summer, and I plan to continue raising money and advocating for literacy during the coming wrestling and lacrosse seasons.
SG House Leader
Senior
4 hours/week, 30 weeks/year
I am the leader of one of the four houses for my school (similar to the houses in Harry Potter) and I help plan events and competitions and make sure that members of our house can build bonds and relationships through grade levels.
Prefect of School Spirit
Senior
7 hours/week, 37 weeks/year
Our school has a few seniors serving as student leaders in the different areas of our school's life. This year, I am the Prefect of School Spirit and have taken it upon myself to get students excited for sporting events, house days, dances, choir, band, and theatre performances, and even for regular days of school. I have helped run the different student groups that plan events, supported my peers by attending many school events and bringing tons of energy to these events, and sent emails encouraging students to get excited for the different activities for the year to come and to get them to attend many different events.
Bleacher Creature
I help run under my position as the Prefect Of School Spirit. We are in charge of helping get students exited for and to get them to attend sporting events.
Wrestling Clinic
I ran a free week-long wrestling clinic for elementary and middle school students the summer before my senior year. I totaled about 20 hours of communicating with my school's athletic department about marketing, gym space, and waivers, advertising my clinic, making a plan on how to run the clinic, and actually teaching the kids how to wrestle in the clinic. I also used this opportunity to raise money as an Impact Player for the Champions For Literacy, and ended up raising over 1,200 dollars for the nonprofit from my clinic alone.
