Perform assigned power plant rounds, inspecting and monitoring general operations of OC San’s power plants to ensure proper working condition. This role is also responsible for overseeing the generation and distribution of 12,000-volt power, operates, monitors, inspects, maintains, and troubleshoots internal combustion engines, steam turbine generators, chiller refrigeration, energy steam systems, and auxiliary support and safety equipment such as pumps, compressors, fans, valves, filters, equipment drives, and motors.; monitors and controls electrical switchgear up to 12,000-volt power as needed to maintain reliable power supply to the wastewater treatment facility by either operating high voltage switchgear, making manual adjustments to equipment, or by operating computer control systems designed to monitor trends and start and stop engines; monitors a variety of computer systems including applicable software program designed to control and monitor the electrical system. Other duties include cleaning or changing air filters, cleaning strainers, aligning pumps, changing belts and sheaves, performing boiler inspections, adjusting packings, scheduling repairs, and monitoring vibrations, chemicals, and oil.

Perform routine/preventative/emergency/repair maintenance on mobile and stationary engines. performing weekly rounds, 1500/3000hr services, inspections, balancing, filter changes, ultrasound of internal components, measuring deflection, replacement of check valves and spark plugs, turbo inspections/documenting spin down times, water jacket replacements, overhauls. Documentation and maintaining logs of trends, readings. Ordering parts for engines and support equipment. maintaining support equipment such as vacuum pumps, boilers, steam turbines, catalyst cleanings, gas compressors, etc.

Responsible for performing skilled level maintenance tasks required for the maintenance/operation of an advance wastewater treatment plant and facilities. Treatment processes include Microfiltration, Reverse Osmosis, UV Oxidation, Lime Saturation and Chlorination in a reclaimed water filtration system. Maintaining and repairing equipment, performing construction activities, and facilities maintenance, including building remodeling, painting, furniture modifications, plumbing repairs, roof leaks, furniture moves, appliance repairs, landscaping and other related activities. Perform a variety of housekeeping and cleanup activities. Perform inspection of pipelines and exercise valves. Perform welding, brazing, cutting and hard-facing on plant equipment as necessary. Ability to weld steel, stainless steel and non-ferrous metals required. Maintain, fabricate, modify and repair plant equipment. Operation, maintenance, servicing, fabricating, testing, repair, welding and rebuilding of equipment including pumps, valves, compressors, and associate equipment. Performed preventative maintenance to maintain the advanced wastewater treatment facilities including all faculties. Assist in the ordering of required parts for equipment and/or vehicles. Install and remove a variety of plant equipment.

Provided operation and maintenance duties for the City's Energy Production section at the Point Loma Wastewater Treatment Plant, North City Water Reclamation Plant, Pump Station #2 and other outlying facilities (e.g., 2MW Emergency Gensets); repair, operation and maintenance of methane/natural gas/diesel fueled engines, generators, hydro turbine generators, high voltage electrical equipment and other related support equipment; troubleshoot and diagnose problems such as engine and switchgear malfunctions, defective PLC logic systems, and electrical controls and instrumentation; maintain log books and equipment.

USS GRAVELY DDG 107 Arleigh Burke Class Guided Missile Destroyer Supervised personnel in the maintenance and upkeep of 10 gas turbine engines and 3 gas turbine generators. Supervised/planned maintenance operations on Wastewater/waste oil treatment equipment and systems. Supervised all ship and helicopter fuel replenishment operations. Supervised/Planned maintenance operations on gas turbine support equipment such as pumps, turning gears, air compressors, oil purification systems, low pressure air dehydrators, hydraulic systems, and engineering control systems. Troubleshot and repaired equipment in the propulsion plant. Ordered and tracked parts necessary for repair and upkeep of equipment Supervised and trained junior personnel in job assignments.
