Dear, Director of Human Resources Please consider my application for the teaching position at Laguardia Community college for the fall semester of 2024. Although I have no previous teaching experience , I have had the opportunity to create a lesson plan and put that plan to use while shadowing and eventually teaching a fifth grade classroom as part of a final project for an early childhood education elective. Not to mention I was once a student myself at Laguardia CC. Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to have many enriching opportunities that have poised me to be a leader within the field. In the past, I served as an Assistant at the Godwin-Ternbach Museum, and the Frosch & Portmann Gallery. In these roles, I executed robust workflows, Where I wore multiple hats from Grant writing to handling and archiving art, assembling exhibits, keeping exhibition records, and managing traveling exhibits. I engaged in extensive data logging and performed condition reports to ensure the proper care of each piece. Most notably, I leveraged the visitor lens to curate exhibits that optimized the guest experience. In addition to my expertise in managing art, I provided oversight to operations, exercising keen business savvy and financial planning skills to allocate budgets and delegate tasks to junior employees. These and countless other experiences have equipped me with many transferrable skills to transition onto this position. I have long been passionate about Museums and art itself having obtained an Associate of Science in Fine Arts & Art History from LaGuardia Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Art History & African Studies from Queens College, and a master’s degree in African & Museum Studies from New York University. I regularly seek opportunities to expand my knowledge and recently served as a Mellon Scholar Research Fellow. As a participant of this prestigious program, I conducted extensive research and curated a Virtual Art exhibit to disseminate information on the impact of COVID-19 on people of color both nationally and globally. As I consider the next steps in my career, I am excited to address gaps in representation and create spaces to nurture and prepare artists of color to navigate the complexities of the art world. I hope to provide access to opportunities and cultivate experiences that reflect varying communities. I possess many great qualities that would make me an integral part of the Mathew Brown Gallery family. I am highly regarded for my ability to plan strategically. I pride myself on my research abilities, my passion is tied to my knowledge of Art history, Film & digital Photography techniques, Photography history ,Art Handling, Social media management, Recruitment, training, managing interns, Communication Coordinator, program development, community engagement, Administrative support, Grant writing, project management, non-profit collaboration, Editorial techniques, conservation techniques, condition reports, production, Film history, Media Art, Middle Eastern Art, Queer latinX Art, Latin American Art/film, Contemporary Art /Asian art, Diaspora Art, Queer Film /photography history, Caribbean Art, and so on but I am always eager to learn more.
