Inspects and/or repairs chlorine machine, booster pumping stations, reservoir, meters, streets, drainage systems and sewer system at frequent intervals to insure that all aspects of the systems are functioning properly.
Maintains a variety of records relating to inspections,
maintenance activity, water supply, consumption, etc.
Determines the locations of gas, telephone, power, television, water and sewer lines from the appropriate sources prior to excavation.
Responds to complaints regarding water leaks, pressure loss or no water; evaluates situation; explains findings to supervisor.
Contacts residents and business owners in area where services will be discontinued and explains when services will be shut off and how soon it will be turned back on.
Insures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools after use.
Drives trucks of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling
and unloading of various equipment, gravel and sand.
Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned
equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor;
Cleans equipment.
Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
Performs required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew, including pavement cutting, ditch digging, manhole and line cleaning, main and pipe repair, laying
and backfilling.
Cuts, fits, lays, repairs, taps, cleans and flushes water main pipes, gates, and fittings on repair of mains and services and installation of services, fire hydrants and drinking fountains; assists in shutting off broken sections of water mains.
Services water supply, sewer lift and other pumps.
Operates a variety of power construction and maintenance equipment
used in the water, sewer and street department.
Conduct routine sampling of drinking water and public water following standard operating procedures.
Maintain proper chlorine levels at city wells
Maintain city wells by spraying, weed eating, cleaning well buildings, maintain and repair chorine pump and injectors.
Exercise water valves to insure they are not rusted open and are still working properly.
Install, repair, and replace water mains and water service lines.
Maintain, repair, and install water meters.
Maintain, repair, and install hydrants.
Maintain city sewage ponds by spraying, weed eating, and maintaining Blue Frog sewage aerators and cleaning out the inlet.
Monitor and maintain sewage lift stations.
Install, repair, replace sewer mains and sewer service lines.
Maintain roads by patching and laying hot mix.
Using bucket truck, dump truck, and loader; prune trees over right-of-way. Ensuring they are safe and up to state and city standards. Fall trees in right-of-way and in city parks that are non longer safe and need to be cut down.
Operate street sweeper keeping drains and gutters clean and sweep up after car accidents.
Maintain city parks by mowing grass, weed eating, edging, pruning, spraying, maintaining irrigation systems and maintaining public park bathrooms.
Operate front end loader, backhoe, skid steer, excavator, bucket truck, street sweeper, patching trailer, striping trailer, asphalt roller, dump truck, tractor mower, jack hammer.
Operate basic hand tools and power tools.
Operate Vac-Con to clean out sewer lines, wash down sewer lift stations, and hydro-excavate.
